Unite's current industrial action ends on Sunday, 26 November, so from Tuesday, 28 November, waste collections in Cardiff will return to normal operations.

• Recycling collections (green bags) will be collected weekly
• Food waste will continue to be collected weekly
• General (black bag) waste will continue to be collected fortnightly
• Scheduled hygiene collections will be collected fortnightly
• Bulky waste collections will be reinstated
• Each household will have two scheduled garden waste collections before Christmas.
• Residents will be able to report missed collections on the Cardiff Gov App.

Throughout the industrial action, the council has tried to minimise the impact to the public by prioritising the collection of food waste, hygiene waste and general waste. This has resulted in some missed collections of green recycling bags in certain parts of the city, which will be cleared as soon as possible, as staff return to work and waste collections return to normal.

General (black bag) waste -General waste collections will be collected fortnightly. Residents are advised to check the council's website or the Cardiff Gov App to ensure that they know which week to present their black bin or bags -https://www.cardiff.gov.uk/ENG/resident/cardiff-gov-app/Pages/default.aspx

Garden waste-. Garden waste collections will restart in line with resident's usual fortnightly collections with the aim of clearing the backlog by Christmas. Any additional garden waste presented next to the bin or sack unfortunately can't be collected, as doing so could add significant time to collections on the day consequently affecting our ability to ensure everyone across the city receives a collection. Residents can continue to bring any excess garden waste to the recycling centres at Bessemer Close or Lamby Way. Garden waste will be collected fortnightly from 28 November until 22 December and a further collection will be provided for Christmas trees on the week commencing 8 January and 15 January.

Green bag (recycling collections) -green recycling bags will be collected weekly from next week, but as this service has been impacted by the strike action, we ask residents to be patient while any backlog of green bags is cleared. Residents are being reminded that only paper, tins, bottles or cardboard should be put into the green bags. Please ensure that you put the correct materials in the green bags, as incorrect items cause a problem for our staff at the recycling processing facility. Please do not put food waste into the green recycling bags as this attracts animals and birds who then scatter litter from the bags across the street.

Hygiene collections -scheduled fortnightly collections of hygiene waste will start next week.
