Cardiff Council Update: 21 February 2023

21/02/23

Here is the latest update from Cardiff Council including; a recent prosecution for fly tipping and the road closures and travel advice for Wales vs England next Saturday (February 25
th).

Fly-tipper ordered to pay over £1,500 at Cardiff Magistrates' Court

Nazir Ahmed, from Albany Road, Cardiff was ordered to pay just over £1,500 at Cardiff Magistrates' Court last Wednesday (February 15th) for fly tipping waste in East Bay Close in Butetown.

On January 19thlast year, a waste enforcement officer visited East Bay Close, following reports that five black bags, two suitcases and general waste had been dumped on waste land.

Following further inspection, delivery notes, personal letters and even an address tag on one of the suitcases clearly identified that all the waste belonged to Mr Ahmed.

A letter was sent to Mr Ahmed's address to invite him to an interview under caution so he could explain how his household waste ended up being fly tipped in a ward that he doesn't live in. No response was received on two occasions and the £400 Fixed Penalty Notice remained unpaid, so the case was filed for court action.
