Compliance checks are continuing

Licensing officers from the Shared Regulatory Services are continuing to carry out compliance checks at all licensed premises across the city.

A further Improvement Notice has been issued on the Vulcan Lounge/Bar on Wyverne Road in Cathays on Friday (18/09/20), as social distancing measures were not being followed at the venue.

This follows the suspension of the Improvement Notice on the Mocka Lunge in Mill Lane, as well as the recent news that the Improvement Notices on Peppermint, Gin and Juice, Rum and Fizz and Coyote Ugly have now also been lifted.

Each venue has a responsibility to ensure that people eating or drinking in their establishment are following social distancing rules. Processes have to be in place to ensure that social distancing measures are being followed and a track and trace system must also be in place, collecting names and telephone numbers of customers.

Licensing officers access a number of areas, including:

  • Queuing systems outside bars and restaurants are in place to ensure social distancing measures are being followed
  • Tables, both inside and outside are two metres apart
  • Procedures are in place to deal with people that are not complying with the rules, whether this is social distancing or socialising with people outside their extended family, or ‘bubble'
  • Processes are in place to protect staff.

Following the closure notice on Loco Latin bar last Monday (14/09/20), the venue will remain closed until adequate measures are put in place.
