Palm Sunday Memorial Service

An ecumenical Palm Sunday Memorial Service will be held at the Wenallt Chapel at Thornhill Crematorium on Sunday 25thMarch 2018.

The service begins at 2pm and will be conducted by Rev. Michael Witcombe.  Deborah Morgan Lewis will be leading the singing and the service will end at approximately 3pm.

Cabinet Member with responsibility for Bereavement Services, Cllr Michael Michael, said:  "This service allows people of all faiths to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of those they hold dear.  Losing a loved one is never easy but, for some, the opportunity to reflect and remember in a dignified manner can be a real help."

On arrival at the chapel, visitors are invited to place a memorial card with a personal message in memory of loved ones onto a memory board which will be presented during the act of remembrance. A collection will be held at the end of the service, in aid of the charity ‘Sands'.

Sands have three main aims - to support anyone affected by the death of a baby, working with health professionals to improve bereavement care and to work towards reducing baby deaths by promoting and funding research.

At Cardiff & Newport Sands the group's main focus is to support families on a one to one basis through phone, email and group support meetings. To date Sands have provided four Bereavement Rooms in three hospitals, sponsored midwives to attend conferences to improve their knowledge of new best practices and pay for training for students, maternity care workers and midwives on improving bereavement care.

Refreshments will be available at the end of the service.
