The mysterious case of a new Crime & Coffee Festival

A new literary festival, promising to have crime and thriller fans on the edge of their seats, is on its way to Cardiff.

Cardiff Central Library Hub, in partnership with Welsh crime writers collective, Crime Cymru, will host a two-day Crime and Coffee Festival on Friday June 1 and Saturday, June 2, featuring award-winning authors and some of the biggest names in the genre.

Topping the bill at the event are authors Belinda Bauer and Christopher Fowler who will be joined by Rebecca Tope, Kate Hamer, Mark Ellis, Katherine Stansfield and many more. The festival will provide crime literature fans with the opportunity to meet the authors, hear them reading from their work as well as attend meet the editor sessions and literary workshops.

Cabinet Member for Housing and Communities, Cllr Lynda Thorne, said: "Cardiff libraries are always looking for ways to attract new audiences to our facilities and theCrime & Coffee Festival builds on the success of our regular crime and coffee reading group as well as Open Space, the monthly author events in Central Library Hub.

"Crime is an extremely popular genre and 1 in 5 books borrowed by customers from Cardiff libraries is a crime fiction title.  We are really looking forward to welcoming some of the top authors in this field to Cardiff for this very exciting event and encourage crime and thriller fans in the city to come along."

 

Coffee at the festival will be provided by Big Moose Coffee Co, the city centre coffee shop whose profits areused to help homeless and other disadvantaged people get back into work and society. 

The Crime and Coffee Festival is also supported by WFHowes, Octavo's Book café, Honno and Literature Wales.
